2000 v6 5spd trd...75k.....

seems every time i go to start my engine...blue-ish smoke rolls out the tail pipe for about 30 sec. to a min. it has been happening for about 2 weeks now. ever since i ran engine flush and changed oil. but once it is done that is it. until i start it again.

someone mentioned to me that it may be oil sitting on top of the valve stems and that is what is burning off every time i start. he said it did it on his old gm crap forever and didn't worry about it. well i bought a yota b/c it's not gm.

I have been hearing good things about sea foam. i thought i would try that next....any other ideas?

Just as stated above..Valve stem seals should be the culprit..After the engine is shut off the oil actually runs down the valve stem, past the defective seals, and enters the combustion chamber, where it is burned off right at startup..Once the residue burns off the smoke stops..A clear indicator of bad stem seals.. :2cents:

How easy is it to replace the guide seals? guess the heads have to come off too...don't they? Won't be cheap I'm sure.

A shop with the right tools should be able to do it with the heads on..They use compressed air in the spark plug hole to hold the valves up when they remove the valve springs to access the seals..
