What is involved with removing the cat other than the pipe parts? Does the o2 sensor need to be removed or what is entailed with that part? I discovered mine is getting extremely hot and I’d like to do away with it if I can get it out. Thanks

It’s supposed to get really hot.
I don’t think it’s supposed to get as hot as it’s getting. I’m actually afraid it’s gonna melt or start the floormat on fire…with heat shield still in place. It would certainly start a forest fire without any effort

If its getting really hot, like almost glowing red hot, then you likely have a fuel mix problem. A cat that is working properly has about a 100°F temp difference between the input and output.

Removing the cat will trip a CEL and your fuel maps will likely revert to default decreasing your MPG. Its also a federal violation to remove the cat. Just FYI.
