I have the stock 2WD chevy springs and I am even with 7" of front lift with a 9" eye to eye shackle. We just finished another swap with 2WD chevy springs with the overload removed and he is even with 6" of lift with a 2" cornfed shackle (6" eye to eye).SKUUT said:I read thru the link and got alot of questions answered, but I was wondering if anybody has added a few leafs to a Chevy pack. I guess with 3 extra leaf, minus overload, you would have a 6 leaf pack, from a 2wd Chevy, and would gain a total of 5 inches? 5 inches of rear lift is what I'm looking for, so if anybody thinks this would work, let me know. Thanks
I just put an add-a-leaf in my Chevy packs this weekend. It was a Pro Comp long AAL, Summit Racing part number EXP-13124. After installing the AALs and a one inch longer shackle, I was able to get rid of my 3" blocks. It's hard to say where my suspension is related to stock, but I would guess about 8". My rear shackles are 7" hole to hole.SKUUT said:I read thru the link and got alot of questions answered, but I was wondering if anybody has added a few leafs to a Chevy pack. You get yourself some steel (3/8" x 2" works well) and drill some holes in it.SKUUT said:Where are you guys getting these shackles 7" and 9". I've never heard of shackles that long. I'm hoping to get 5" out of the leafs so I can later add shackles for an extra 2" of lift.
I got mine from cornfed suspension because I wanted my shackle bent to match the spring and frame widthSKUUT said:Where are you guys getting these shackles 7" and 9". I've never heard of shackles that long. I'm hoping to get 5" out of the leafs so I can later add shackles for an extra 2" of lift.
I don't have a way to properly bend 3/8" steel, so I used some DOM tubing spacers to properly align everything. The attached pic isn't a very good example because it's bent to hell after a brutal wheeling trip, but you can see the spacers.ptrautne said:I got mine from cornfed suspension because I wanted my shackle bent to match the spring and frame width
I moved it 8"SKUUT said:Ughnugh, I see what your saying. I'm starting to get the picture. Ptrautne, do you remember how far, from the stock front and rear hanger, you welded in the new hangers. Ours should be the same. Thanks for the replies fellas. Later
I got mine from cornfed suspension, he made them 9" eye to eye for me and sells them at 6" eye to eye. I cannot simply used 3/8" steel and add a spacer for my customers who want me to do a SAS, so does anyone know where I can get a nice 7" shackle that is bent to accomodate a 2.5" chevy spring?
