I go to the local stealership today to see if something is wrong with my clutch. The guy walks out gets in my truck and pushes the pedal in. right then he says yeah your clutch is out its way to stiff. then he turns the truck on and shifts through the gears with the clutch in, says he thinks the syncros are out in 2nd and 3rd gear. my question is can he really tell that all that stuff is wrong with the little bit of time he looked at it?

Also he said the clutch isnt covered under the powertrain warrenty???? i thought the clutch was apart of the powertrain?? can someone chime in and give some advice. already got 2 appointments tomorrow for other opinions.

I'm not sure about the synchros in the tranny, but the clutch is a wear item like brake pads and tires. And it isn't covered by the powertrain warranty. Not saying you can't drive or anything, but I've seen guys smoke clutches completely in under 10k miles. But i've also never replaced a clutch in a toyota truck i've had (and i've had lots of them) with less than 90k on it.

The clutch itself ( pressure plate, disc, T/O bearing) would not be covered..You can't accuratly diagnose syncro's sitting still..The stiff clutch pedal could be due to a hydraulic problem..ie, clutch slave cylinder..Which should be covered...Go somewhere else, they obviously don't know what the're doing..
