Corrosions not too bad, but I want to neutralize b4 it starts rusting. I use the red battery protectant every couple of months, but I'm not completely impressed. Anybody have misgivings about me just dumping some water, with maybe some baking soda on the battery and the tray?

I'm looking for the lazy man's fix cuz I don't think this needs to be rocket science. I don't even want to pull the battery

Baking soda is good. You can dump a coke on there too with similar results.

When you're not feeling lazy it might be a good idea to take everything apart and clean it up. Sucks getting stuck in the middle of nowhere with a truck that won't start.

Thanks for the reply and the reminder.

I've had a battery go bad 95 miles from the nearest town. Was so concerned that @ 10:30 at night I packed up all my shit in sub 32 weather and headed in, rather than turn the truck off.

BTW, I'm gonna be back atchya in a few weeks to ask your advice on building a power tank. I know you did it, as you wrote in the thread about it.

A buddy of mine put it together for me, so I'm afraid I'm not going to be of much help.

Seems the most important thing is to find a regulator that won't freeze up. Airing up a few tires doesn't take long, but a frozen regulator might be more of an issue while running air tools.

Use hot/boiling water, it does the trick. We do this at the shop and I was amazed how good it works. Will wash all that green/white corrisive crap away but won't wash away the stains though of course.
