I have a 98 ext-cab 4wd 3.4 liter automatic Tacoma.
I had the cruise control set at about 70 MPH when it just stopped working.
Now I get a flashing "cruise" light when I try to turn it on.
I have tried 3 different code reading tools, no codes have been set.
I have checked every fuse I can think of under the hood and under the dash.
I have checked and even replaced the brake switch.
I have switched out the cruise control ECU and actuator with a part from a scrapyard.
I understand there is a separate diagnostic system for the cruise control.
My Chilton's manual has next to nothing in respect to cruise system diagnosis.
I checked a 2003 Tacoma service manual (all I could find on-line at the time).
The power/resume/accel switch has some specs on the resistance that should be output for each function.
The 2003 resistances did not match my 98 model, but I am not sure they should.
I read somewhere where I could short two terminals in the OBD coupler and the cruise light would flash a trouble code.
My OBD coupler doesn't have the same terminals populated as the 2003 service manual indicates.
How can I get the Cruise diagnostic codes to flash?
Any other ideas?
