Thier functionality, and simplicity makes them beautiful. I'd considered square tube for my bumper, and had the plans all drawn up, and then went with round since it was free.

custom bumper

I have recently built a front bumper for my '99 4Runner that tucks the winch up inside the front grill, increasing my approach angle. There are 6 bolts per frame rail holding the bumper on, which ensure the bumper will not come off during a winch procedure.
