Since I got a Pioneer DEH-80PRS I wanted a way to dock my iPhone without any trouble when I get in my truck. I also wanted to be able to use my phone to control everything instead of the head unit.

If you don't know anything about this head unit, look it up. It does auto time alignment, auto eq, integrated pandora, bluetooth, etc.

I designed a mount using Rhino3d and then printed it using a Makerbot 3d plastic printer. The first one I designed was for the iPhone 4/4S and mounts in place of the passenger airbag switch. It has holes in the bottom for the speaker and microphone. With the 80PRS, music will start playing as soon as I dock the phone. I can also use Siri through bluetooth to do anything on the phone. It also allows me to use the phone as a GPS.

Since then I have traded in my 4S for a 5, so I needed a new mount. Designing for the lightning connector was a little tricky but I made it work. The 5 mount is much sleeker than the 4. I also sanded and painted it as well.

I put both models up on thingiverse.com for free download if anyone wants to make one. These are not perfect designs by any means, but they work.

Do you have any idea how much it would cost to get printed? Just a ballpark price to be looking for. Just finished an intro solidworks class so I'm just starting to learn all this. Thanks.

Looks like the link he gave comes up as $22.31 for the cheapest (satin ceramic)
