I have a couple of friend who have done this (4 & 6 bangers). They both said it didn't do anything negative to their truck. Both said mpg went up just a hair, and they both said at about 2500 rpms, they has more oomph. I sounded pretty good actually, I am going to do it, but haven't got off my ass to do it yet :D . It gets really loud at about 3750 rpms, but that will happen with any exhaust upgrade. All i can say is try it, and if you don't like it, get a 2 dollar connector, and a couple of clamps from autozone and put it back together.

good luck, get to work :saw: and give an update. you can do it in about 45 seconds with a sawzall, and an angle grider will do it in about 2 min.

post pics too please. I'm getting tired of bending my tail pipe back into shape...

not much for a picture. sorry. all they did was cut the pipe straight down about 18 inches from the 2nd sensor. they didn't do anything else to it except cut it off. i don't know if a turndown would make it louder, or sound any different.

Yeah i cut my exhaust right after the 02 sensor and love the sound. I have had it cut for about a year and a half now and have not noticed any problems. I have a pic if you still wanna see it. Just let me know if you want me to post it.
I also converted with an adapter to a 3" pipe so it could still be street legal.
