I can't tell from that angled picture if it looks right. A 1/4" gap is pretty typical. Shouldn't be much bigger than that though. You will have up to 1/8" lateral play depending on how tight the locking ring retains the CV axle.

Hello I'm new to mechanic and I try to learn how to fix my own car. I try replace the driver side cv axle today and I'm not sure how much gap has to be. Can any one help me please.
