I am in the process of replacing my CV shaft on the drivers side. Is there any other maintanence I should do while doing this? Drain diff. fluid, can i grease wheel bearings, etc. I have a 97 4wd manual hubs, auto, 4 cyl. Oh anything I could but on the cone washers to make for easier removal next time. Someone had a link for the brass punches, i bought them and they worked great to remove the cone washers!, Thanks!

I did a CV about three weeks ago and decided to check my front brakes while the tires were off. Sure enough they were about a millimeter away from hitting the indicator, so I replaced 'em.

Coat the washers with anti sieze and they will be a cakewalk to remove next time.
X2.

Also, buy a new inner clip for the new cv. I didn't and have to pull mine out to replace it because I reused it.

It's cheap, it's out, myswell do it.

I can have all 6 of my cone washers out in under 5 minutes with a sharp wood chisel. No damange is done to the hub or gasket.
