Well, I got the parts from TOD to extend my diff breather up to my gas filler area and come to find out as i start the project the stock breather has gotten loose and has fubared the threading going into the diff housing. my question to you guys is will it be safe to simply retap the hole and insert the new union or will the shavings from the re-tap wreak havoc on the internals of the diff? the stock breather is still in place as best as it can be. it will hold and i check it often, but only 2 threads are into the housing, so i would like to change it asap and would rather not wait to pull the rear end apart before i can do it.

Coat the tap with grease and it will hold the chips and keep them from falling in the punkin.
