Need to install a diff cover on my wife's Dana 35. Part came apparently bare metal, and I can't what's on the bolts, they're black but the coating seems to easily leave dust marks behind.

Anyway, I assume I need to prime and paint the cover at least. My 2 questions are with what? And do I need/should paint the entire cover or just the exterior?

Try to keep in mind that I'd like to install this weekend, and all I have in the area are autozone, shucks, and napa as far as auto stores go. I also have a home depot and lowes nearby if someone prefers a product carried by them.

just paint the outside, get some primer, prime it, and some flat black spray paint, 6 bucks total and done.
