Wheel seal issue??
anyone know of a good DIY writeup?
Does this take a special tool?

Yep. And if it's leaking that far out your wheel bearings are washed out and are now toast.

The axle shaft seal in the diff is shot. Be sure to change them both sides. If' one's bad the other isn't far behind unless you dinged it putting an axle back in.

funny the axle is not leaking now, I don't know if I overfilled the diff and this was a problem.

Jack the truck up on one side and see if it leaks again. If it does you need to get in there and change out those seals. It should not leak gear lube even if you do over fill a little bit.

word of advice would be to get a few extra seals when you do it, you will more than likely bend 1 or 2 of them putting the new ones in
