I just took my 2005 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 Double cab TRD Sport out to Glamis. When climbing in the dunes it seems as if it was backing off of the throttle when the rear wheelhop got really bad. I've read that wheelhop is really bad on other threads. I'll be adding some sort of traction bar in the near future. But, it sure feels as if it is backing off of the throttle when it is punched in the sand. It feels exactly the same as the traction control on my other vehicle when it is in the ice and it notices wheelslip. It just keeps pulling back the throttle until the wheel stops spinning. Could my toyota have some type of traction control that would cause this?

Traction control is an option; not all Tacomas have it. Did you buy yours new? If so, the sticker would have had TRAC on it to indicate if you had traction control. Not sure if they offered it with the sport model; I've only seen it on the OR's.

Maybe it was your LSD at work?
