'02 Taco, driver's door window rattles horribly when wheelin' or shutting door. However, it happens only when the window is down, which tells me it's probably the track or something coming loose inside the door, on the side nearest to the door jamb.

Any ideas?

I guess I'm looking for a more accurate diagnosis before I tear off the panel.

Tighten the bolt pointed to by the arrow. I had the same exact problem and that took care of it. Only I took the whole panel off before realizing it. Hope this helps.
Ditto, had the same noise on my 04' DC, luckily diagnosed the sound and the culprit short of tearing the door apart. Interestingly both of the front doors were loose, rears were tight. Also, both of the front door striker loops were loose.

I know this is an old post but does anyone know if this fix works on 05+ Tacoma's? My 08 drivers side window rattle's like crazy. Had the dealer look at it, said it was normal. Normal my ass.

Go out to your truck and see if the bolt is loose. If it is, tighten it and see if the rattle goes away, if it does, then this is your fix, if it doesn't, then something else is wrong.

yes, it really is that easy.

Mine have always rattled when rolled down a little, I'm gonna check that screw. On a side note, the door panels are easy to remove.

Checked em, they were tight.

Just got my truck back from the dealer. While they were puttin my new rear springs on i asked the tech to again to check my rattling window. Last time they told me it was normal but whatever they did this time it's not rattling any more.

I am bumping this thread so other people see how easy it is to fix.

I was crawling around under my truck tonight and while I was sitting on the concrete with the door open, this loose bolt caught my eye. I tightened it thinking nothing of it until about 30 seconds later when it clicked in my brain that was probably the cause of the rattle. It's as tight and as solid as a new door. I couldn't believe it when I saw how easy it was, this rattle pissed me off all summer... I am so glad I didn't tear into my door guts trying to find the rattle.

Part number?

I know this is an old thread but I just noticed the rattle and found this bolt missing on my '01 Tacoma SR. Does anyone know the OEM part number for it or have the measurements for it so I can match at an auto parts/hardware store? I'm cautious about taking the other bolt out to measure unless it'll go back in super easy
