Why shouldn't you drive in 4x4 on dry pavement? What damage can be done?

First of all, why would you want to?

4-wheel burnouts, dude!!!
If you drive straight on even pavemant, you'll be ok. When you turn, the axle can bind up when it's enguaged. This puts load on u-joints, steering, and the front driveshaft. The front tires need to be able to slip, which they can in dirt.

"All wheel" drive cars have a center differential between the front and rear axle which allows them to turn at different speeds,v which reduces binding.
need lockers for true 4wheel burnouts! lol.

My taco only has 190hp on a good day. I don't think I'll be doing 4 wheel burnouts anytime soon :p

hey man,
it's ok to drive in 4hi in the rain though, right??? Cause usually I do just to be safe, cause the backend of our trucks will get squirrley in a fart-beat! Peace, Wes
put the stock 29s on. they burn pretty easily with 529 gears.
Get your friends to do it, Then you can laugh when he break something. And you go home with a smile and a beer.
