Driving in 4x4 on dry pavement

Why shouldn't you drive in 4x4 on dry pavement? What damage can be done?

Driving in a straight line shouldn't hurt anything. Turning is what would make it bind up.
Even in a straight line, differences in weight on the front & rear tires, or differences in tire pressures, will cause binding to gradually accumulate. (You may get enough tire scrub to limit it once it starts getting big enough though).
