I could be wrong, but I believe it just adjusts your shift points and makes the tranny hold the gear to higher rpm's to help avoid continuous up/downshifting when towing or hauling, especially in hill country. I use mine in the mountains since I have not regeared and run 33s...helps to keep it from upshifting too soon...I think...

Doug is right, it helps so that your transmission does not shift too early and bog down. Ex: towing, uphills, or truck loaded with hotties!!
