Before my motor blew, on indicated vehicle, I would be able to hit the ECT button and notice a slight downshift and upshift when hit again (off). Im not sure if its just because a lot of time has gone by since the motor incident or what but I get no response now from the ECT button. Is there a way to check if it is even hooked up? Or is it not even worth the time? I got a feeling it might have gotten overlooked during the motor swap.

could be a bad connection. But the ECT has to do with the tranny not the motor, but yes it could have been either disconnected somehow or damaged during the swap. Is it really needed? No Does it help on occassion? Yes
So it is up to you to find the reason it isn't working. But the ECT affects the shift point in the tranny between your final gear and overdrive.
