I have a dirt bike rack that I mount on my 4runner and Silverado, it rattled around a lot, shaking the bike violently while going down trail and making a racket. I searched all over and picked up a hitch clamp which completely took care of the wobble and rattle. I've been using it on my bike carrier and on my hitches. Hopefully this helps someone out:

While I can appreciate your ingenuity and low buck fix...
plus your time spent to edit and present your video.
I'm compelled to constructively critique your results.
So don't take it the wrong way.

I don't really trust that a U-bolt will stay tight...
as the U-bolt could stretch a little if over laden or jarred.
Some serious trail stress - leverage could loosen it over time.

I have had to re-torque my Rr axle's U-bolts at least twice after their installation
as they would stretch some and loosen due to excessive suspension articulation.
Either the thread or the shank of the U-bolt had stretched I'm guessing.
Probably the theads - nut... as my U-bolts are 9/16" thick.

But your fix should probably do just fine if the trailer's tongue/load weight isn't excessive
and the trailer is generally towed on flat-mild terrain and at sane towing speeds.

In other words: If yer easy on it... should be ok. But check that for tightness after some rigors.


another method...

I utilize two of the Trimax anti-rattle/locking hitch pins.
because I wanted my trailer's tongue extension/coupler less easily taken.

I utilize one Trimax a-r/lhp at the hitch end, as well another at the trailer's coupler.
Easily, quickly installed, / Easily, quickly removed.
Worthy investment if purchasing an anti-rattle locking hitch pin doesn't stress your budget.

Works well... no more rattle/play even on the most difficult trail.
And I've tested them out on some of the most difficult terrain.
They remain tight thru most trail abuses...
tho' some blue thread lock on the hitch pins threads, during severe duty, doesn't hurt.
