i been getting a check engine light for the past maybe 6 mo. was comin on about once a month. it was p0401 insufficient egr flow. i had a spare engine so i swapped the egr valve and didnt see anything wrong with either one. both opened and closed easy. my light kept coming on regularly as before. today i got a light and it was p0402 excessive egr flow. truck still runs good, doesnt miss or anything. every once in a wile if i turn it off and sit for 15 min or so and start it up and go to take off it has absolutely no power so i push the clutch in and rev it up a lil then it is fine, but thats only happened a few times.
according to the FSM the probable cause for both codes are open/short egr circuit or ecm. but has anyone got any suggestions on what may be the cause or exactly what open/short egr circuit is?
thanks a lot, its a 95 2.7 with 160k

Get a FSM and look that code up in the diagnostic section. Then follow the diagnostic proceedure listed for that code. That will lead you to the true problem.
umm... i done that already in my first post, but i dont want to just buy an ecm if thats not really the problem and dont really know what the other problem means... open/short egr circuit????
