Im looking for ideas on surf fishing rod racks for the front of my truck or a toolbox mounted rack. I dont want to pay the money for one when i know i could fab somethin up :saw: with some good old pvc and spray paint. Anyone have pics of their custom racks? oh and i have an 02 extended cab if that helps any.

i just brake my rod down between every riffle and hole... but something along the lines of a bed bar and some PVC would be perfect

yea i was thinking somethin along the lines of a bed bar, but i have a toolbox in the bed and i thought it might be easier just to mount it to that on an angle.

up in the outer banks almost every other car has rod holders on it. ive seen just some plastic ones bolted straight onto the toolbox, a bullbar type thing with rod holders, a full brushguard with rodholders, and ones that fit in the reciever hitch. just a few ideas

if you want to use the rod holders while fishing i don't think a bed bar would be a great idea. you would have to keep reaching over the side of your bed or climbing in the bed to get the rods. but if you just want the rod holders for transportation the bed bar seems like the best idea because they will be protected.

Here are my rod holders for traveling purposes. Not exactly what you're looking for maybe, but they work for me.

thanks for the suggestions. i think im going to go with something mounted on the toolbox instead of the front. now i just have to figure out a way to mount the pipes on an angle.

A milk crate works great with PVC tubes and zip ties. You and angle them any direction too.
Also, Berkely sells rod holders that you can screw on to you tool box or whatever.
