Read everything I could on www.gadgetonline.com and saw a cheap mod.

Whoever has done this mod (except for Gadget of course) can you back this trick up. Some pros/cons maybe.

FREE FMU:

"...By reconnecting the FPR to the boost port you prevent this problem and it will give you 6-7 PSI of extra fuel pressure at max boost that you did not have before. Many people with the dreaded pining problem have tried this and it has in some cases eliminated the high gear, low RPM ping. All have reported an improvement."

Ohh and Iam running a stock fuel setup.

The newer s/c install instructions show that set up. I had it like that and didn't have any problems. What gen s/c do you have?

I have a second gen and my engine pings a lot. They say its a HG/LR Ping, or High Gear/Low RPM Ping but mine pings even when its not boostin sometimes. Like around 10Hg Vac to 0 in second when Iam gettin on the gas. It pisses me off.

Hey troymm, how do you like the AIC? About to get one and a wideband and wondering what u think. Also I am gonna try some IK22's from URD to see what they will do.

The AIC is great. It's one thing everyone with a 7th injector should get. I felt an immediate improvement after I installed it, and it runs much smoother. Installation is simple, only about 15 mins.

I've got the IK20 plugs and don't have any problems with them. If your not having any problems with the plugs I would keep them in until your next tune up.

Thanks Tryomm. I am gonna change em out cuz I have been experiencing some ping I think but not real loud. Do not want to spend a bunch of money on upgrades and then have it run like it did before cuz the plugs are raggedy.

Install the AIC first, because the pinging will prob stop after its tuned.

If that noise I hear is ping it has been happening for a while(15-20k miles). That much would definitely take somethin out of the plugs if you ask me. How does the AIC control ping? I thought the AIC was for fuel only. I will try the old plugs first though since it could very well not be ping at all and just the leak sounding different at certain times.

When I spoke with the TRD rep, he said the 7th injector was not made to eliminate the hg/lr pinging. From what I've been told, the 7th injector just turns on and off. So when you hear the pinging, the 7th injector is prob not dumping fuel, and your s/c'd engine is working like its without the 7th injector. The 7th is designed to just produce more hp/tq.

I believe AIC pulses while on, and can be tuned at different rates at different loads. So when you would be hearing the pinging, the AIC can add a little fuel to make the AFR correct.

I'm not claiming to know eveything about this stuff. I'm just learning myself, but I tried to learn as much as possible before spending all my money on upgrades. You should ask Gadget or email Brian at URD. Those are the guys with a lot of knowledge.

From what I have learned about ping it is not from afrs not being correct. It is a timing thing. I talked to the TRD rep after the kit was installed and they told me it won't fix the ping. They also said they can not get me a 5psi pulley neither so that was the last time I have ever called them or wanted their advice. Talked to Gadget and Brian already. Was your truck still pinging before you got the AIC? The main reason I have the FTC is so I can control timing for my primary fuel and ignition system but it is not hooked up and will be back in Thursday afternoon. Have you seen what the AFR's look like with the 7th injector alone? Super rich,up until the fuel pump is straining(no walbro then) then fuel pressure and afr dropped faster than it did without the 7th injector kit.Do you have the Walbro 190 upgrade. The truck has more than enough fuel now and just needs tuning.
