To all you guys, dont forget to reinforce the frame!! Especially to those who dont have a full cage. My frame at that weak spot bent a tiny tiny tiny bit. Enough to make me plate mine fully boxed now.

Oh and any suggestions for increasing the strength even more?

add extra crossmembers and stout bumpers....


what part and what years are you talking about? my frames are fully boxed except for like 6" all the way at the rear

All the tacomas are fully boxed till the frame meets the bed. From there on back its C-Channel. like this passenger side [ -- driver side ] The frame runs under the cab and then bends up and levels off at a higher point. The 2nd bend leveling it off is the weak point.

Wait until you sack the rear end good and hard... you'll bend the frame about 1-3/4" downward at the rear bumper. At least you can straighten it and then brace it.

haha...unless I jump the canal or some insane thing I wont be sacking my rearend. ;)

But yea...I know what you mean. Cage or bust imo.

seriously... my 85 and 84 are boxed from the front all the way up until 6" from the end....
