Front diff mount question...

1723 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  joel
While checking a diff leak, I noticed something about my diff mounts.
I have had a "death wobble" ever since I bought my truck (it was used).
I'm wondering if this may have something to do with it....

Anyway, i just noticed today that there is a gap between the mount and the rubber "spacer/snubber"...just wondering if this is normal, or if I need to tighten up the mounting bolts.
The rear mount looks like it doesnt have a gap, but its hard to tell from the angle I can see it at.

Heres pics of the front ones...Notice the 1/8" gap between metal and rubber...
Does anyone else's look like this?

Thanx!

Did you actually try tightening the nut? :dunno:
nope.

Doesnt look it in the picture, but my 99 is already half rotted away from salt.
I dont want to have to mess with a bolt like that unless I have to.
Thats why I posted up such a dumb question here before i go messing with it...LOL

IF that is supposed to snug the bushing up against that rubber piece with no gap, I may be screwed. That would mean about 1/4-1/2" of the middle of the bolt will be major rusted. If thats the case, I'd be lucky to get the bolt out to replace it without snapping it in half... :(

Living in NY REALLY sucks!!!... :(
