Well, I got to test drive a 2000 V6 today and it was nice. Very clean. It did have a rear noise that whined when I let off the gas and coasted. Not and lower speeds but but around 40mph-ish. The dealer said they would fix what ever it is but I'm not sure.
Now, 3 weeks ago I test drove a 1999 2.7 4cly 5 spd. Front end wobbled. Thats the best I can explain. It was three weeks ago and I spent only a few minutes behind the wheel. The 1999 is $4k less than the 2000 with 10k more miles. Everything is the same but the engine. So, what one do I focus on? The front end seems like an easy fix. Take the difference in price and do some suspension work. What could be causing the wobble? What parts could possibly need replaced? I'm going to throw a number at them tomorrow and tell them to fix the front end and we possibly could have a deal. It does have 94k on it and ran fine. I wish I could remember more about how it felt power wise compaired to the 6 I drove tonight but it can't be that far behind. Let me knowwhat you think?
Thanks again!

Rear whine, does it have the locker?? Sounds like possible shaft issue, u-joints. 60-100k can have them ready to die, and they may get noisy. If there wasn't clunking, and the thing went from forward to reverse easily, with no rear end slop, you might have a better deal there. Wow, that is a tough call.BTW, it cost $38 to fill my taco today. I wonder how much better the 2.7 is vs my 3.4 on mileage??

I just heard back from the dealer and this is what he told me about the whinning sound coming from the rear of the V6. He had two mechanics listen for it. They came up witht the exhaust is making the sound. It is an aftermarket Gibson so anyone out there have one of these and is it possible for the exhaust to make a whinning sound. Like I said before, it only happens when decelerating. There were no clunks going from forward to reverse. Is this an believeable answer? My gibson on my silverado never made a sound like that. Let me know. Thanks
