I have put a 1.5 leveling kit on the front and 285/75R16 BFG's on my new truck and at 75 on the interstate I am getting around 15.5 mpg. Around town I am getting 12.5-13.0 Is this normal when stepping up 2 sizes on the tire? It really seems low to me.

Dont forget you are going more miles that stated.

And I only got 15.2 on my last 75mph hwy run. OEM tires, 1.75" level and about 500# in the bed, 2 adults, baby and full back seat. There was also about 20mph of headwind for a large portion of it. At 65ish I get between 18.2 and 19.8, depending on hills and wind.. and thats with the same cargo.

But your 285's are probally load range D, so in addition to the diameter increase they are a bunch heavier as well....
