G-offs 87 4x4 build: Lots of pics...

Not on this board much these days, but figured I'd throw up a build up of my truck somewhere.

Basically Ive got a 87 Xcab 4x4 with the 22r powerhouse and a 5spd. This is my first ever project. I also have my 95 Taco which is my DD. I thought about building it but would rather start out on a piece of shit. So I bought this for $1500 after it had been sitting in an RV lot for 3-4 years.

Im doing mine a little differently than most. Starting with the cab cage, then doing the rear suspension and bedcage, than the front suspension and engine cage.

On to the build...

This is where it had been living for a while:

The old cage and interior. Fluxcore I believe. I particularly liked the window bar attached to the stock 20ish gauge crossmember. I just whacked it with a mallet and it came off, :

So I cut all the old junk out and ripped out the interior to start again. This was all in July/August:

A pillars and dash bar:

Added the roof tubes and dropped the cage. I built a subframe that it attaches to, no pics though:

PRP Comp seats:

Floor bars:

Picked up a T100 axle for the rear:

Didin't do much while I was in school from august-December, but just started up again this month. It was now time for the rear portion.

So for the rear I picked up some Deaver 62"s with 12" shackles, 18" SAW's, Fox bumpstops, and a 32gal Jaz cell. The shocks and Bumps will be mounted outboard iof the frame.

Nice, looks like a great start.. well I guess you got a lot of work done already, keep the pics coming, looks great so far:kewl:
looks great so far.

That cage looks a hell of a lot better than the one it started with.
what do you plan to do for the interior once the cage is all welded up? I've seen plenty of cab cages built, but i've never seen what people do for the headliner and what not. Just curious.
Wow Geoff....looking good :headbang:

I didn't realize that the T100 3rd I just set for you is going in the desert truck. I put 100% into that install and I'm glad I did. You have maximum strength from this rear 3rd :kewl: ....5 hours.

Here's the link for this gear install http://gearinstalls.com/geoff.htm I'm still working on the text.

I stole a couple of your build-up pics for the lead-in. Glad you brought me some Motive gears...they have a very nice mesh.

Who needs an interior? Honestly, all I plan on doing is an aluminum dash, aluminum door panels, Mojave heater, coat the floor in bedliner, and bulid a center console for switches/storage. Plus as you can see from the first pics, the truck didn't have much of an interior to begin with. Its not my DD so I don't care.

Put it back on the ground and drove it around the block to make sure the cell was plumbed right. And just because its been sitting so long. A lit bit chilly with no windows though, lol...

Got my bedcage near completion. More importantly I can drive it around now and get it out of the garage:
