So here's the rundown. Swapped in the trail gear gm 1 wire conversion onto my 22re a few years ago. It worked great with some fancy 100amp chrome alternator. Until the lower 3/8" lower bracket broke. Then it cracked the alt housing, burned up my waterpump, broke the power wire to the alternator, etc. So the truck started loosing power radio would shut off lights got dim and motor bogged then the truck would die. Replaced the battery and alternator and fixed the broken terminal at the alternator. Worked great for a day. Then bam were back dead in her tracks again. I tested both the battery and alternator and they are good.

For wiring on the original setup all I did was take the factory power terminal and hook it up to the 1 wire and then zip tied the factory plug out of the way. I'm being told I need to wire in some plug and yada yada. I don't understand how it worked before and not now. Both the old and the new alternator have a power stud and then two tabs for a plug.

Do I need to wire this differently or is there something I'm missing here.
