I have an under the rail drop in bedliner and I have been wanting to throw some rail caps on to protect it from scuffs if I decide to mount some bike hitches on the sides. Anyway, I went to a local accessory dealer and we looked at what was available and it seemed like Wade made the best one since it was smooth and anything clamped to it would be less likely to move loose. The pictures were of tundra caps and they looked great. However, when the caps came in, I drove down and while an employee was putting them on(it was free, but damn, I wish I had opted to do it) I paid the owner. I walk outside, look at my truck, and it was No love at first sight. They were fugly. They hang over to the point that they cover the factory or dealer installed pin stripe so now the front half of the truck has a stripe and the bed area does, but you can't see it!
I call the employee over and ask if they can take them off, and I find out they can but then they will charge me a $25 restocking fee. I am pissed, but I am trying to play it cool since I have learned my lesson about blowing up at people. We decide to leave them on and see if I really don't like them, and if I don't I will take it back, and they will remove them and credit me my payment less $25.
So...what should I do? Does any company make a better bed cap that doesn't hang that far down? I can get line x put in for a good deal, but I would rather spend the money on something else since I do have a drop in liner and I don't haul that much stuff except bicycles. I just feel stuck and I am venting...sorry, forum.
If I do get it Line-x'd, I read on here that its a good idea to drop your old liner back in? Has anyone done this?
Honestly, I am hoping that someone can tell me about a brand of bed caps that I can just slap on there, and maybe the accessory dealer will credit my money toward them and I can be done with this nightmare. Looking for answers...thanks.

I bought the Wade bed rail caps and they do hang over the side a bit more than needed but do not cover my pinstripes. I have about an inch separation between the cap line and the pinstripes. I too have the under the rail bedliner. I am planning to keep an eye on the paint under the bedliner and if I see it getting overly scuffed, I'll line-x it and then put the drop-in back in. I would line-x under the rail and keep the Wade caps on because I think thy look better that the over the rail line-x jobs I've seen.

Now I am starting to wonder if they could have been applied wrong. In the Performance products magazine, the Tacoma caps look perfect, but they show them on a regular bed. You would think that Mfr's like Wade and Bushwacker would have a pic of all of the applications instead of one pic of how their product looks on a Dodge.
