just dropped it off at the machine shop, where I was told it'll be about a week until its done.

deck the block - $100
bore and hone .030 over - $90
hot tank - $50
resurface the flywheel - $60
turn the crank - $150

not sure if these are good prices, but when you're the only one around I guess you can name your price :(

well, i went and f*cked up, i got frustrated when taking all the bolts out of the block before i took it to the machinists, and just put them all in 4 different bags, labeled front, back, right, and left. we'll see how it goes when i get it all back

Does anyone know what this ground-looking majigger is? It's coming out of the wiring harness with the injector plugs, and I can't find out where to bolt it down to. Also, update pics...

We got the engine in, i just didn't take any pictures, way too tired after three straight days wrestling with this bugger and running a 10k mud race, all while being beaten into the dirt by the Arizona sun :(

anyways, hopefully she'll be fired up and running like a champ this weekend

that wire is a ground.. it gets bolted on to the lower intake manifold at the flange where the upper intake plenum attaches.. it either goes on one of the mounting bolts ar has its own bolt hole i cant remember but either way will work..

thanks mark, i got the answer from yotatech too, and it would look a lot better if it decided to friggin run!! it's got spark, it's got fuel, and we had it running yesterday, but had to hold the throttle open, it wouldn't idle on its own. we think that the t-chain skipped a tooth on the crank gear when we cracked the cam gear and had to take it off to replace it, so on friday we get to take the whole front end apart AGAIN ('-.-) this thing is becoming the biggest pain in the ass i've ever had to deal with, but it'll be worth it.

just pull the valve cover and put the crank pully on the 0* mark then check where the cam gear mark is in reference to the mark on the center of the rocker shaft mount.. you can change the valve timing without pulling the entire front of the engine apart.. even if it's off 1 tooth it should still idle.. whats your ignition timing set at? also make sure the flapper in your MAF meter is moving free

the instructions from engnbldr say set timing at 6-7* BTDC, so I'm trying to keep it at that

hey mark that worked, just have to hook up a timing light tomorrow, bolt down the seats, install hood pins, and that ought to be it. But, knowing my luck, something will shit out on me.

yea man I'll take some tomorrow at work, and i'll also try to embed a video. some kinks still to work out, it's throwing #6 code (igniter/coil), it smells like it's running rich, even with ignition timing set at 6*-7* and idle timing at 12* (i got the timing specs from engnbldr, since i have their cam and RV head). other than that, and the tach taking a shit on me for no reason, there's no problems to speak of with the engine haha.

alright, picture time, as promised. video will wait until the exhaust is fixed.

the seats are a little tall, but man are the COMFY

we nearly shit ourselves when this bugger exploded like it was filed with quarter-sticks

Hahaa. And I thought my muffler was getting bad. Nice job man. Looks good. I've always wanted to rebuild and engine. But I'm just too dumb :)

My dad wants a 51' Chevy pickup. Maybe we'll get to rebuild one of those. A little less complicated than what you just did though.

Enjoy

yea it was pretty intensive, but the knowledge level required isn't through the roof. i mean, I had a shop do the bottom end so I wouldn't fuck it up, and granted there a a few bolts missing here and there, but it's not leaking yet. the timing was a b*tch to get right though. all in all, great learning experience, and it's not even half way done haha.

Also, thanks for the encouragement everyone, I can't wait to get this baby broken in at rausch, moab, rubicon, or wherever.

Nice battery tie down :D looks good
haha yea, thanks, took some major modding to get that rigged up :welder:

all joking beside, that's actually my battery tie-down for the foreseeable future. As for the exhaust, my buddy welded it on for me today and man what a difference a $30 thrush muffler made! I know I keep saying i'll post a video, and I will, just the sun out here is so bright that unless i catch the right time of day, it'll be total shit.
