The general concensus is that its a bad idea. Something with the heat and rust and stuff like that. I've never wrapped mine and don't see a need to do it.

Also, sometimes header manufactures will void the warranty (if any) if you wrap them.

good for drag racing engines, useless on a street truck, does look cool though

I wraped my old Downey Chrome headers with that stuff and never saw any rust, the key for me was to saturate the wrap with this stuff

that way no water or dirt can get under the wrap to rust out.

But i went with the Ceramic coat on my new ones

I never had problems with header wrap on my headers. I had them on tubular headers, not the stock cast headers. It quieted down the noise in the engine bay as well as lowered the underhood temps.

That vehicle got stolen before I could tell if the header wrap did any long term damage.
