ok so i was driving down the road and all of a sudden i hear a loud "clunking" noise coming from the front and then the front tires just locked up completly. i put the truck in reverse and backed up a little bit, then i drove forward and it happened again. i was in 2wd (which i double checked just incase). but something was deffinatly binding in the front end cuz it made a clunking noise. i was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? what could be the problem? and what should i check to find out what is broken?

thanks for any help...dalton

ADD turns all the time. Most likely broke the front diff somehow. My buddy had the same problem and they warrantied it. They claimed there was some plastic part that broke. I don't believe that toyota or anyone would put plastic in a diff though. But that is why I don't let other shops work on my stuff. Unless they are warrantying it.

ok so i started taking the front of my truck apart and i discovered the problem. luckily for me it is not the diff or anything expensive for that matter. what happened is that on the driver's side, the top caliper bolt for the front vibrated out causing the top of the caliper to come up and dig into my alloy wheels. so luckily for me there isn't any serious damage. i just need to buy a new caliper bolt and i MIGHT have to buy new wheels because of how the caliper dug into the wheel a little bit. personally i dont think it dug into the wheel enough to make the wheel not usable anymore, but i am not a wheel expert so i do not know for sure.

thanks again everyone for your help....dalton
