I'm interested in putting a quality header kit on my 2.7L tacoma and doing all new exhaust in the interest of gaining some power and getting ready for a supercharger. However, I do not want a deep throaty sound, I'd like it to stay near the stock noise level, Is this possible or am I crazy?

are you worried about noise in the cab or outside? my magnaflow sounds very deep and pretty loud outside the truck, but the only time i really hear it in the cab is under heavy throttle in lower gears. it doesnt drone on the highway or anything like that

I'm running a LCE header, 2/14" exhaust pipe (from napa v6 reg cab pipe) between cat and muffler, Allied HD all welded rv Turbo (round looks like Gibson muffler) The sound is a little louder out side the truck, inside it is not noticably louder. I think it sounds good, that is subjective though.....I have noticed a small increase in power at highway speeds, where most of my driving takes place. I figure 5-7 hp at most. :welder:

Any aftermarket exhaust will be louder since it is giving more flow and being less restrictive. I have a Dynomax muffler welded in and can't notice much of a noise difference over stock compared to most peoples aftermarket mufflers. Mine is real subtle but if you get on it, you can hear it is a little bit deeper than stock.

use any wide open muffler (magnaflow, etc), but also use a pre-muffler, like a thrush glasspack. this combo keeps the noise way down but also gives you the best wide open setup and will compliment a header very well.
