Wait. I didnt know we could camp there. hmmm Do they allow night driving? Last time I asked they said NO!!!
There are a few camp sites in the park, but they do not allow night wheeling.

Haven't heard anything new about this run. Will there be enough Tacos Going? I am getting my camping gear ready....
I think there will be a good turnout. Dont worry though, the Samuri's will be there to pull you out if you get stuck:

Peter, I assume the camping area was reserved by Santa Rosa 4x4 Club? Will random TTORA people be welcome to camp there?

Later,
....Mike
I'm not sure if they reserved the camp area or not, but everyone is welcome! I may bring the land yacht if I can find a person to help drive it and the truck down. If I do, I will have some beds open.

Just wondering since everyone is getting spring fever. I have a feeling that this will be a huge run. At least on Saturday.

....Mike
Are you going to make it out?
In the interest of trying to set some things up, if you are going to go to the run for sure please post with that info. I am thinking about a BBQ on Sat evening for everyone, but I need to know how much stuff to bring.

I also need to know if I should get the group area. Last year we got it and people didnt stay so it ended up with like 6 of us sharing around 15 sites. For those that have not been there, the group area has a large BBQ pit, nice flush toilets and showers (free), a stage and group of picnic tabes with lights for night use and more. Cost is $10 per night per vehicle.

If there are going to be enought people staying, I will reserve it if it is still available.

Hi Peter. I'll be there on Saturday.

I think meeting at the school house at 10AM works pretty well for most people.

Let me know what your plans are and I'll mail bomb the chapter.

Later,
....Mike
This is what we know for sure:

--Some of us are going to stay the night Friday and Saturday night.
--10am at the schoolhouse is fine.
--BBQ on Saturday night but you have to RSVP so we can have enough for everyone. I will provide (no charge) hotdogs and hamburgers for those that RSVP with how much they want (eg: 1 hamburger, 2 hamburgers, 1 hamburger and one hotdog etc.) Bring your own soda and whatever else you want.
--If we have enough people and the group site is open we will get it.

Go ahead and mail everyone, have those that are going to go e-mail me directly (pete(at)parksoffroad.com) or post here so I can get a head count for those who will stay friday and/or saturday night, and those that want to eat. We will post about the camping arrangements first thing next week when I talk to the rangers down there.

Are you going to stay the night or eat on Sat afternoon? If you are going to eat, how many hamburgers / hotdogs do you want?
TACORICAN said:
Also, Let me know if you need anything.
Just need to know if you are eating!

let me get back to you on that as i am 17 and i dont know what the parents will say about camping at hollister which is a couple hours away without any friends :(

i might just go up friday night and camp with you guys and wheel in the morning, since it would save me from waking up early and driving. or i could just not do the speed limit :)
Thats cool, just let me know. Also let me know if you are going to eat Sat night!
"BTW, is it possible for anyone to head down there friday night? Would it still be $10 to camp? I'm just dying to leave home for an extra night."

At least 4 of us are staying both Friday and Saturday nights. The group camp area is reserved, so its first come first served in the other camp areas. We are going to head down Friday morning and we will save spots for those that let us know they are coming.

How late can they let us in on Friday? I would like to go both days too. BTW pete me and my girl will be eating too.
I think that they "close the gates" at sundown, but one of us can come down and let you in if that is how it has to be. Will you be able to get there before then?

Not sure about 'Area 5', but it's the 'upper ranch' closures that we need to worry about.

Later,
....Mike
I was told that the off-road area was open the entire weekend when I called. The www.hollisterhills.com link says that the entire weekend that area 5 is closed, which is the group area, for a "Power Wagon Ralley". COOL!! The old Dodge Power Wagons are awesome!

You just had to show that pic didn't you. You forgot to add the sammy's whinch was dragging him in from that angle. I would go but I would have to say to hell with brakes and a front drive shaft to make that run :(

I'm going to try to be ready for a run by the end of may. need to do a little bit of :welder: and :saw:
That is a picture that will live in infamy! Dont worry, Mark had a silly picture of his own to worry about. It was just a little hill, but he did the wrong thing.

Anybody heading down Friday? I'll be down there around 5-6pm.
3-4 of us from up north are going down friday late morning. If anyone gets there and the ranger station is closed and you cant pay and get a gate code call on channel 31 or my cell and I will get you in for the night. You will have to go in the morning and pay!
TACORICAN said:
So only 3-4 Heads are going there Friday?
So far I know that 4 trucks are going to be there Friday for sure from up here. This is about normal. Some people rsvp, others will just show up etc. No big deal. If no one else shows up, we will have plenty of fun with just us!

Hollister Hills is off of Cienaga Road right? You turn left on Bloomfield from Highway 25, and turn right on Benito Street, and then a right on Union?

Just want to make sure I have the right directions......1st timer to Hollister.
Sounds about right. I know how to get there, but dont know all the names of the roads off hand! Check the Hollister Hills web site for details. I'm on the road!
If anyone has pics please e-mail them to me, pete(at)parksoffroad.com. I am going to have the pics and such up soon.
