Did a drain & fill on my slush box this weekend. Opened up the drain and let it drain overnight. Next day I filled it up to the "cool" mark with 4 quarts!! Then I drove it a while and checked it "hot" and it looked like it could use another whole quart!!

The manual says 2.1 qts. for a drain & fill. I'm confused... I figured I would get more letting it drain overnight -- maybe get some out of the torque converter, but not ~3 qts.

I have the TRD tranny cooler, could that be where it came from?

Let me know if this sounds "normal".

Ok here we go again, well here is how to do a "complete" drain and fill:

I am not sure if you have a 4cyl or even if it makes a difference(due to different trannys) but I think the transmission holds a total of 7 qts, but only about 4 are held on the oil pan. The rest is as you stated in the torque converter, radiator lines and the tranny cooler(this may add a little more than stated before). As for the amount you drained and added sounding normal,... that sounds about right for the type of flush you did.

Cool. I was just looking for confirmation that what I did sounded "normal".

Thanks DCabTaco...
