Argghhh...I fucking hate thieves.

So I came home to my apt. around 12:30 PM today for lunch and had a class at 4 pm. So at 3:30 I head out to my carport to my truck.

I'm pressing my alarm button, but there's no sound. WTF? I open the door and notice that my dash is ripped out!

Damn thieves are also dumbasses.
What they took:
CD player that I got like 7 years ago, probably worth about $50 now at most.
CB radio, not worth very much.
Subwoofer box with a blown 10" sub that I got back in high school, maybe 8 years ago.

What they didn't take:
$800 GPS Navigation unit sitting right on top of the center console
$100 handheld GPS unti inside my center console
checkbook
radar detector
Precision Power amplifier
maglite
couple of expensive abercrombie jackets

Bunch of idiots.

They got into my truck by popping the hood from underneath. Then proceeded to cut my siren wire - actually, more like rip out my siren wire. Then they punched in my doorlocks with a screwdriver. I guess that didn't work, so they pried the door handle out and somehow gained entry.

Luckily, when they ripped out my dash, they didn't break anything. They neatly popped it out with a screwdriver.

I'm extremely pissed, but what can I do. It's not the money value of the stuff they took, but rather the inconvenience and hassle they created for me. Now I gotta fix my doorlocks, but don't know where to go.

I guess on the bright side, they didn't take the expensive shit and they didn't break any windows. Brave little assholes too. They did it in broad daylight. If only I had walked up on them inside my truck. I'd be ripping arms off.

My question now is, how and where do I get my doorlocks fixed? Locksmith? Dealer? And how much do you think it'll cost?
Any help will be appreicated. Thanks

I guess step one is to move out of the ghetto man!

I don't think fixing the door locks yourself would be all the bad, it might involve buying a specialized tool or 2. I hate to say it, but the stealership might be your best bet if you don't want to mess with it yourself.

The worst thing anybody ever did to my truck was throw a empty 6 pack in the bed one night. I was pissed the during the entire walk from my truck to my trash can.

I had some idiots break into my truck a couple of years ago. They are evidently from the same breed of idiots. They took some blown 6X9's and a blown 10 from behind my seat. They took a good kenwood amp, but pushed my mtx amp out of the way to take my sub out. They also had to move my Valentine 1 radar detector out of the way to try to take out my dash. They yanked the black piece out, but thanks to my careful stripping of the screws on my radio, they souldn't get it out. If they were only smart, they could have had about $1200 worth of stuff. It is a pain in the ass driving with a broken window for a couple of days, but I drilled a couple of holes and paid a $500 deductible and my insurance covered it. Hope you get some better luck.

I actually don't live in that bad a neighborhood in San Diego.

I guess I'll have to check the dealership and see what they can do for me.

My buddy caught some theive trying to pry is rear sliding window open, the theive got the window open then as he started to go into the back of the tuck, my buddy grabbed him by the shirt pulled him out and slammed his head against the tailgate 6 times and WE told him to never steal again, The Theive was so shocked and covered in blood i don't think he ever will steal again. I was shocked when my buddy beat his head against the tailgate.

Remove the door panel and plastic cover, you should be able to reach through one of the access holes to the back side of the door handle and unclip it, you'll probably need the whole handle and lock tumbler set, the locks usually dont come out without breaking some plastic. Been awhile since I replaced a door handle but I dont remember it being hard or taking long.

Talk about getting caught in the worst possible position. With half your body through the slider window, you would be totaly defenseless. That guys is lucky he only got his head bashed on the tailgate. I hate thieves!

Sorry to hear of the inconvenience and hassle. Lucky me, I havent been broken into yet for the two years I've been driving. Although a few years ago my brothers ranger was broken into. No alarm on it, so the threw some rocks throught the windows and somehow managed to miss a few times and hit the body and somehow rip the roof apulstry...??? But all they took was his backpack whick had like a 120 dollar wetsuite in it. What they missed:decent JVC stereo, load of CD's, at lest 2-400 in expensive fishing equiptment and some other things. Not that the fishing stuff would be worth much to them, but it is fairly valueble.

I feel your pain. My 2002 DC 4x4 was stolen when 4 months old, with less than 3k on the speedo. It had the factory alarm on it.

The took my white gauges, mud flaps, rear driveshaft, 4wd computer, and other misc stuff. I figure it was someone doing a 2wd to 4wd conversion (and if you're the one, and reading this, f you).

Lost almost 50 CD's (no renter's insurance), so figure the cost on that. Still haven't replaced even half of those more than 2 years later.....

Took me 2 months to get it back (after they found it after 3 weeks), because the white faced gauges were on national back order, as was the rear drive shaft.

Then the body shop dented the hood, and that had to be pulled out and repainted.

I since trashed the factory alarm, and went with both a "Powerlock" hands free starter disable, as well as a silent pager alarm. I was meaning to catch the next flamin' sucker in the act.

Then, one year later to the day, a guy on a motorcycle goes over my hood (his fault). The following year, I stayed home on that day (no kidding).

My suggestion is to get in touch with Chris (valkire (sp!?)) from trdparts4u.com and see what he can do for you parts wise. Give him a call, or e-mail, or whatever, They are great to work with, and won't rip you off.

stuff like that is why i always keep my glock with me, before my taco i drove a jeep wrangler with no doors or top 85% of the time and had all kinds of valuable shit in it, then i bought my taco and i caught one person trying to break into the back glass while i was at a party over new years i just walked up behind him and put a clip in the glock and cocked it and he took off running, luckily i didn't know him and he wasn't even at the party, he just walked up from down the road, i hate thieves

i work at a grocery store, (have for 3 years,)
on my old 98 tacoma, about 2 years ago i walked out of the store about the time the sun was setting and i saw two legs coming out of my back slidding window, i took off running and screaming towards my truck and the guy jumped out and took off running with my cd case, he got away, i wish i had snuck up on him but in the heat of the moment i reacted diffferently

what pissed me off more than the theft was the broken latch on the back window and the dent on the window frame, it was a hassle and expense to get fixed

I just got back from San Diego a couple of weeks ago...Stayed at the Catamaran resort in Mission bay. I was extremely surprised at the number of homless people who live all along the beach....going for a walk at night on the beach can be risky there. We didn't have any problems with them, but I couldn't help that think about them breaking into stuff to support their "crystal" habit.

BTW...someone broke into my room while I was away for the afternoon...problably a maid or employee of the resort...& stole my $500 Citizen watch from my room. Total loss...hotel is doing nothing....
Gotta Love San Diego
