I am needing some spacers to keep my front tires out of the springs. I am running the waggy axle with 44044's and 37" MTR's with 2.5" backspacing. I am going to jack the front axle up and cycle the steering to see how much I need but wanted to know what others have already found. Thank you

What 96 toy is talking about will not space your wheels out far enough. I run 2.5 backspaced wheels and I do fine, but I am running 35s. Remember, this thing isn't going to turn like a jeep. When most of us have SASed, we have increased the wheelbase by a few inches, thus increasing the turning radius. I would not recommend going with a wheel spacer and 2.5 inch back spaced wheels. Too much strain on the ball joints, and wheel bearings. The most backspacing that toy guys run is 2 inches. Either go with coilovers or get a wider front axle.

What I find odd is it only rubs turning one way, I can not remember off the top of my head which way though.

First off let me start off by saying I am no SAS expert by any means, although I have been researching for my swap for many years now.

But my thought on your delimma is this: as said Wheel spacers are evil try to avoid them if you can. on my steering knuckles on my D44 there are adjustment screws they actaully act as bump stops so that you can adjust the amount of steering you have per side. If you are experiencing rubbing turning one way but not the other, I would think that maybe one side as been moved causing the rubbing on that side.

Like I said just a thought, I definitely could be wrong. but it is worth looking into. I am interested in your results as I also have 37's with the same back spacing going on my SFA. They just ain't on the truck yet.

Well I found the real source of all my noise:
Yeah! that looks to be a problem. any idea of how it started? improper back lash settings?

I am just guessing here, I have no idea how to set up diffs and gears and such

Your issue with rubbing one way than the other isn't related to the stop bolts on the knuckle... When you installed the drag link you probably didn't have the pitman arm turned to dead center and the tires at their dead center location. Your center is actually biased to one side, and that is probably why you can turn a bit greater on one side than the other. Also, 37s on a standard SAS setup are simply a bad idea. The vehicle simply isn't high enough to allow full articulation without any rubbing. 35s are perfect as they don't rub at full stuff... I warned a customer of that, and he went with 37s anyway, and now they rub all the time...
