I may buy the OME complete kit. my question is what do i need to buy from the Toyota Parts department to make the front a direct swap? I want to be able to have the strut and coil assembled already. just unbolt the stock set and bolt in the new one. this way if i have front suspension problems i can just swap out the assemblies for warrenty work.

What all do i need?

If I understand what you are asking for you will need what the FSM calls the "suspension support". Basically the top plate, rubber isolator and studs.

Cartman, when I bought my OME setup from Wheelers (great service, good prices) they offered to sell me the struts assembled with the needed Toyota parts to make the install a straight swap. I dont remember the cost of that service. wheelersoffroad.com

Yup, if you get the shock, and spring, all you need is the top plate (with rubber isolater). Then take them somewhere to have the coils installed onto the shock, unless you are comforable with a spring compressor.

Yep i know wheelers will do it. the cost is $155 for both. Shipped to the house it would run me about 540ish. just for the front. I've spoken to them via email several times. Great people but the prices seem kinda high...........you have to pay for great customer service though......

Follow the link in a previous thread about a cheap source for OME stuff. You can get the complete kit for 800 plus shipping. I'm trying to get ahold of the ppl there to confirm it's the real deal and if i can get the 882 springs and stiff struts/shocks. looks promising.

thanks guys for the info.

You want to be able to lift and lower your truck so you can take it the dealer for warranty work? That doesn't make any sense. Am I missing something here?

it's a just in case kinda thing. If you lift the truck.........modify any component........then that system........suspension in this case is void. If for some odd reason i have front suspension problems i could swap out the OME for the factory strut/coil assembly. just for my piece of mind...... Chances are they wouldn't even notice it was a lift if i left it on since it wouldn't have spacers stacked on top of the coil. they look like stock just a bit more beefy.

Modifying your truck doesn't void any warranty except on parts that are damaged because of the modifications. In that case, why should the dealer be responsible? I'm not a stickler or anything, but bogus warranty claims make it harder for people with legitimate claims to get help.

i dunno about you, but i'm all for free (for me) warranty work. it's a little game i like to call "stealing from the stealership".

why the hell does everything have to turn into a damned pissin contest. If you don't like my idea you only have to say it once.............bickerin back and forth doesn't accomplish anything........ I don't figure i'd have any trouble out of just 2.5 inched of lift, especially if i install a dif drop also. The way i see it, if i put a lift on and something breaks then why the hell does it say "OffRoad" on the bed..... these things are plenty strong enough to take that little abuse........... i know howover built toyotas are......... i work for them

Where is this "cheap source"? Care to share the information, or PM me?

thanks

cheap source is http://www.ok4wd.com they have the complete kit for 799......they quoted me shipping at around 100 bucks. Methinks Wheelersoffroad's kit may be a better value........even though it's almost 1100. I'm pretty sure it comes with more goodies.

tenntaco...........how many times do you recon i'd take my taco to the dealer for warrenty work?? The dealer deserves every screw job they get. I was going to have a factory DVD system installed in my wifes Seinna for her birthday. Called the dealer for a quote. Take a wild guess what it was. Betcha you weren't even close. They quoted me $6000 to have a DVD player installed in the sienna. No i didn't misunderstand him and i didn't put in to many zeros. I mean SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! TO HAVE A DVD PLAYER INSTALLED!!!!! I asked it it was a 52" plasma monitor, he didn't find the humor...........now who was trying to screw who there?

I feel so sorry for you because a dealer offered you an outrageous quote to perform work you could get done elsewhere for cheaper. I'm sure you're the only one they've ever done that to. Would you like a hug? Maybe a sucker?
