Anybody know of a way to put intermittent wipers in without changing the wiper lever. I might try to come up with a way to do it but if somebody has already done it it would save me the time. I hate turning on and off the wipers when it is just misting out...

So what im thinking is going to the junk yard and picking up the control box that runs the wipers, one that has inter. wiper setting and wire up everything like it should be and then running a wire to a switch just for the intermittent setting..

just get a switch from a taco that has it. Its a plug and play installation
It would be much easier to do that. Why don't u wanna change the lever?

If i change the lever im sure the steering wheel would have to come out. I dont want to mess around with a Airbag steering wheel. Thats why i was looking for other options otherwise i would have done it that way.

just outta curiousity, do you have a tilt steering wheel? I don't and I don't have int. wipers, so I'm assuming that's the same set up you have. I'd like to swap out the entire steering column and add int. wipers, just b/c no tilt SUX!

Welcome to the non-intermittent wipers club (NIWC). I'm not just the president, I'm a member too.

LOL, can I be the vice president? What's weird about my truck, I have just the basic options such as A/C, no cruise, no power options, no tach, yet I have ADD hubs. Something I guess could be labled as a "luxury"??? Go figure...

So has anyone even looked how the wiper switch comes out? I'm going to have to look myself if noone speaks up.

I have no clue, never really thought about lookin into it... I'm sure its not that hard. Just take the cover off the steering column and tinker w/ it.

I think ill check tomorrow. That would be nice if the switch and that came right out without removing the wheel. the only thing is ill have to find a taco in the junkyard to get one out of and you know thats going to be hard to find.

I just started reading this thread and am in the same boat. It's been a while since anyone posted anything so I was wondering if any progress has been made or if anyone new has some knowledge to share on the topic. Thanks.

I went to the yard and got an intermitant switch. Then I pulled the pins out of the connecter and swaped the switches. Everything works fine and its nice having it. It wasnt hard once I figured out how the connector came apart.

Where is the intermittent switch located exactly? Is it part of the column pictured here? When you go to the yard do you just yank the whole column or is there some associated hardware that needs to be nabbed, too. Also, I think someone said that the part is different whether or not you have tilt steering, which I don't. Any truth to that?

I took just the switch that you see there and the wires down to the plug by the kick panel. The connector is part of another one so you have to swap the wire pins which is real easy. Same color wires if i recall. I didnt even take the steering wheel off. You have to take the covers around the wheel of and you can wiggle the switch out.
