you can also buy one from Airaid its called a MIT.I just put one on my truck Monday. Its louder but the increase in throttle response is diffentlely noticable. You cann buy that MIT for Central 4 wheel drive for around $90.

Has anyone had the Airraid Mit on any trucks before 1999? The site says it's only for trucks afer 1999. I didn't know the engines were different between 1998 and 1999

If you were to put one vaccum line into the silencer box opening and then the other vaccum line into the intake plug's opening; would that affect the vaccum pressure in a negative way or do you have to put both vaccum lines into the silencer box opening in order to have it work properly?

I doubt like hell that will result in any benefit. If anything, it could result in a flat spot in your torque/power curve.

I just love it when all of you knot heads think you know more than all of the trained engineers who have spent countless hours, done hundreds if not thousands of simulations and done countless tests spending mucho money in the process developing all of this shit. Then you go undo it all thinking that you are going to discover some hidden free house power. Then you'll come back here with some bull shit about your wishful butt dyno musings and try to convince others to repeat your folly.

Come on folks, if you want more power, you are going to have to spend some money, period, end of story. And when you do that, you are then going to wind up spending even more on fuel from then on. There are no free lunches. Just accept the facts and spend your time doing something that will yield some actual results.

You've got to remember Dick that the engineers who spent solong designing this are not always designing with power in mind though. They designed it with quietness, and cleanliness in mind, and if you dont mind loud, and dirty, then there may be some more power to be gained.

its just like the old saying on any project. You can have it fast, quick, or cheap, pick any two.

AS long as you are willing to sacrifice in one area, there are often ways to pick up power. Now whether or not the Deckplate and ISR will yeild any power, Im not picking sides, just stating often there is power to be found in a stock system with "freebie mods"

EDIT: I know this post is OLD....but I just wanted to toss my 2 cents in there.

I have done the deckplate and the intake silencer removal. Definitely is louder at WOT, I like the sound, growls a bit. The thing about both mods is they are cheap and easily reversible, either pop the deckplate back in or just put the silencer back on.

I just don't think you folks are aware of all the acoustics involved in a good intake design. Oh well it's on the intake side of the throttle body so I don't suppose you can do a whole lot of damage. Not that you are apt to do any good, mind you.

Just did the mod, well most of it. I have an 01' and found out that all 3 holes take the 1" PVC caps. Plus two questions if anyone can help out, the hose on the back that wraps around the back of the intake manafold do I just skip this one and leave it plugged in? And it shows that there should be two hoses running into the main cap but I only have one? It is louder and a feels alot better, that could just be because it is louder :D

Thanks.

That is an emissions hook up and is therefore by federal law illegal to tamper with. If you don't really know what you are doing, it's best to just leave things as they are. Unless you know the whys and wherefores, you really don't know. I'd be willing to make a bet that you don't even own a FSM.
Let me ask you a question. Would you be willing to practice brain surgery on a family member with no other instruction outside of some urgings of moronic idiots on the Internet? If not, why are you doing this?

Left the rear one alone, capped off the other two, pulled the EFI fuse for about 15 minutes and put that back. With the deckplate and this it sounds great, runs great, and both are definetely good cheap tricks :D
