Well I finally got my IRS check today. No longer will my HP d44 have to sit in the garage. It felt so great to start ordering parts to finally build it up and install it. I also ordered a add a leaf to add to my Chevy leafs in the rear now that I got rid of the blocks. I never rotated my waggy knuckles so now finally the front driveshaft angle will be fixed and no more vibrations with the High pinion installed. Now I have just as good an excuse as any to go out this weekend and wheel the guts out of the waggy axle. Sorry but I just had to tell somebody the goodnews. I have been waiting forever to get the money to install this axle. And my wife just don't understand. She likes to wheel and all but she doesn't get excited like me about new truck parts. :D :D :D

Sorry, man that sucks. I worked a buttload of over time last year. I worked 7 days a week 12 hours a day for most of it. The only thing that saved me are my kids and wife who does not work.

I bet she gets just as excited about your truck parts, as you do when she comes home with new shoes!!!

I could never understand why my (soon to be) ex-wife would spend $425 on a stinkin' pair of Manolo Blonic shoes....just cause Carrie Bradshaw had them on Sex in the City, she just HAD to have them too! And same goes for the shoes Elaine had on one of the Sienfeld episodes...Friggin women!

Back on topic....thanks to the ex, (and her tax dude) I have a nice $1750 check from the IRS I just deposited...can't decide if I am going to Hawaii, Cancun/Cozumel, Florida, or Belize....I need to go scuba diving before I get super-angry! Maybe I will skip all that, and just spend it at Ceasers Tahoe after the Rubicon run this year....can you say "Yo-eleven!"...

What add a leaf did you use for the rear? How much lift is it going to give? I need to get rid of my 3" blocks.

I ordered the Pro Comp long add a leaf part # EXP-13124. It is supposed to provide 1.5" to 2.5" of lift on the chevies. I expect a little more on my taco. Don't know though my flatbed weighs a little more. Mike at http://toy4x4.net/ is running them with the regular bed. I have removed the overload spring from my leaf pack and 2" blocks. So I squat a little in the back now. To try and fix it I chopped the overload spring so it is no longer than a block and reinstalled it. Now it is like a block but still part of the leaf pack. And still allows for more tuck. I have no worry of it breaking or slipping. Also I added a set of junk leafs I found at the junkyard. No luck with the extra leafs though so I will be replacing them with the add a leaf. I will post the results.

Congrats, Trent. You need to get down to wheel with us when you get everything together. We're going to Summertown at the end of the month. Also, I don't know if you have plans for your waggy axle, but Bryan (timberwolf) is looking to buy one.

thats what i did, i just have a 6 1/2" eye to eye shackle (i think) and it sits level with my 44044's. however, when winter time comes again, im ditching the leafs and will have the front 60 built up by then, so a 4 link front and rear will be in place, actually may do the rear here soon since it wont take but a day to do it.

Yeah I can't wait to get the truck together. The gears came in today and also the add a leaf for the rear. The new tie rod and drag link are in the mail and should be here tuesday. I have yet to get ahold of a friend out of Hopkinsville to set my ring and pinion. I also ordered 1" steering arm spacers to replace the 1/2" ones I have. I am still rubbing my tierod on the springs under flex. They are in the mail with the tie rod and drag link. We have been really busy at work lately. 8 more apaches showed up from Iraq today. But hopfully if things work out OK I would like to get down to SUmmertown with you guys. Last time in October TN TORRA voted to go to Summertown I was the only one to show. Except for Ty and his 4-wheeler. I will try to get with Bryan about the waggy axle.

That must have been when I was travelling on the weekends for work, but I can't really remember. Just keep up with the TN board and you'll know who's coming. So far there's only about 5 of us, but that's just enough to waer we won't get bogged down.

OK got the add a leaf in tonight. Seems to sit level now. So now I have the chevy 63" with the overload chopped and the add a leaf that replaced my 2" block. Hopefully I get to play alittle this weekend. As for the TN TORRA run I will get ahold of you (Daniel) a little closer to make sure everybody is still going. I would like to make it. Later

Well the point of no return. Tonight I started tearing down my waggy axle. I needed the carrier and pinion flange out of it for the HP D44. I drop it off thursday to get the gears set. I hope to pick it up saturday morning. My tie rod and drag link are still not here from parts mike. They should of been here today. He is supposed to call me back and let me know where they are. If all goes well it will be up and running again on Saturday. And ready for Summertown the following weekend. Oh yeah I am running wheel spacers in the back. I just recieved them from allpro. MAN they are nice. Almost to pretty to put on my truck.

OK well the buildup is officially complete. Yeah I know I am going to get some razzing for no pics yet. The swap went fairly well. Ended up learning that one of my axle shaft u-joints was seized and I had an upper balljoint trashed on the passenger side. Funny thing about the u-joint cuz we had just been wheelin the weekend before. As for the balljoint that fixed my bad vibration while braking. Had the alignment done today. The rundown... Swapped d44 waggy with 78' f250 hp d44. Used the waggy knuckles out to keep the 6 lug pattern. Also added new taller spacers for my high steer arms. (man that sucks. Those things are really not meant to come off.) For now I have the 3" spacer kit from allpro in the rear. It was late yesterday when we finished and it is dark now. But I will try to get pics up tomorrow. I love the wide stance.

you will learn to love it and hate it, i guess its like a wheel base thing, however i still would rather have full widths over stock, i thought in my little head that i would get less body damage with them, however since i went from ifs to what i have now, the trails i run are a little different, so that body damage idea went out the window. as soon as i get my exo finished ill put it on its roof and snap a few pics :D also with that axle you will have to special order one inner shaft if you go chromoly the rest you can get form yukon or warn. moser is a good choice also, i have ran the living shit out of mine with 39.5's for a while and all the shafts still look new (no egg shaped ears), now come down to gardendale and ride some

You both need to post some pics of your trucks!

I'm going to be joining the fullwidth club when I finally do my swap and I need to see what it looks like.

Zach,

What is the deal with the one inner shaft when going with chromo axles? Which inner?

I can get part numbers for the Warn HD chrome/nickel alloy shafts for my axle for both inners and outers for both sides.

I might just get some stock spares and run the stock shafts if my whole insane outer plan works (Waggy spindles and hubs).

Did you say your insane plan of running waggy spindles and hubs? That is exactly what I did. I have the waggy knuckles, spindles, hubs, rotors, etc. All on the F250 HP D44. Works great. What axle are you trying to use? When I took the truck to get it aligned the mechanic couldn't believe how all that stuff went together and also the fact it was under a Toy. He was impressed. and kept asking if he could test drive it. But anyways I took like one pic tonight before the camera died so I may not be able to get it posted tonight sorry.

i think its just one side if i remember correctly, i took my stock shafts out and measured and i think they had had all of them but one, it was either a little short or long, but im thinking it was to short. this was from warn and yukon. i ended up ordering moser because i needed them for a big ride and needed them in 3 days and they got the shafts to me the day after i ordered them.
One other thing you may want to look at is those damn break brackets that go on before the spindle. both of mine were wore down where the little I-beam thingy goes and would rattle like a SOB, i just got the welder out and layed a bead across it, and ground it down a little, now there tight and no noisy stuff. also buy the ratcheting spindle nut from the ford dealership, i bought them week before last and they havent backed off any, used to have to tighten them up before and after every ride.

Sweet. I have the all of the Ford parts, other than the carrier, and all of the Waggy shafts, brakes, and the spindles. I'm trying to decide on brakes (per the Corvette caliper thread that Bear is doing such a great job with). If the Corvette calipers won't work with a Waggy rotor, I'm going to need to figure out if Chevy rotors will fit on the Waggy hubs. Then I need to see if my Ford locking hubs fit into the Waggy hubs.

It's good to know that you fit all the Waggy stuff on the Ford axle. I just need to know how the Chevy stuff compares.

Thanks for the info!
