Yeah, Rubicon express makes a long arm kit where you weld some metal to the UNIBODY and its really cool. Flexes great til the unibody twists and gets all fucked up, well no it still flexes great then too. Check pirate 4x4 under the jeep section or just search the entire internet for "Jeep cherokee lift." oughta get the job done. If I was to be dumb enough to buy one and make a real wheeler out of it Id definitely go RE.

my friend jsut bought a 01 jeep cherokee xj, tried to get him to go for a tacoma but anyway does anyone know anything about lifts for these?

thanks

the XJ has recently come into popularity and new things are coming out for it now. Superlift makes a nice 3" lift that will clear 31's no problem, but the lift options are endless. Tuff Country (or Rough Country) makes a 6.5" lift for about a grand. If your buddy is going to do any real wheeling with it, he can buy chassis stiffeners to strengthern the unibody. Welding anything to the unibody is a real bad idea. My parents will be giving me their XJ in about a year so I have been looking into lifts for it. I saw in a mag that rustys off road make 12" lift coils for it with a new subframe to attatch longer front links. Cool stuff. They arent the most reliable trucks but can be really capeable off road if built properly.

i kinda like the cherokee's b/c their almost to that level where they are beaters, they can be nice trucks and then they can be beaters, i got a buddy with a 6" on his running 35's and a lot of fender trimming with a 44 up front and a 9 inch in the rear, we rolled it and as soon as we got back to the farm we started cutting the top off from the rear doors back to the tailgate and then cut that whole side window out and cut the tailgate in half so it kind of has a bed in it now, its pretty sweet

 How many times have you seen the unibody twist and cause permanent damage, from 'wheeling? I owned a fairly heavily modified Grand Cherokee, and they are pretty similar. RE does make good lifts. The RE 5.5" kit for the XJ's is awesome. Combine that with some Bushwacker Cutouts and you easily have room for 35's. Skyjacker's RockReady 6" kit seems ok, too. XJ's are light, and the 4.0 engine is strong and decently reliable...not yota reliable...but not bad at all. There is a massive aftermarket for XJ's. Tell him to head to www.jeepsunlimited.com and www.naxja.com
