Bought a new double cab 4x4 on Saturday, took it into the tire shop today, Thursday, asked them about trading original dunlops for some bfg all terrains. They said the dunlops were crap, because the side bars are not fully grooved like they should be for m&s tires, and they were at 8/32" already. They called Goodyear, who makes Dunlop, and they said it should be 11/32". Now, there are still nubbies on the tires, even with 450 miles. I have been taking it easy to break it in, and it was a trip home on the interstate so shouldn't be to hard on the tires.

Anyways, should these tires be fully siped through the side bars, and should they have the full 11/32" like manufacture stated? The shop offered me $125 trade for all 4 tires. Is that good or should I seek recourse first through Toyota?

8/32s?! That sucks for brand new! First, measure yourself. Second, print out specs for your specific tire from a website (i.e. tire ) to make sure the tire guys weren't yanking your chain. Then complain to Dealership. IMO 11/32s sucks, any decent AT tire has 16-18/32s, (and I understand your current tire isn't an AT!) Good luck

Tirerack says it should be 12/32" and I was there when he measured all four tires, and all were at 8/32" He said "that truck must have a lot of power if you wore off that much in 488 miles." I was like showing him the nubbies, and I haven't been hot rodding because it is still breaking in. Anyways, has anybody else gotten anywhere complaining to the dealer?
