when i searched on this forum earlier i found that the leaf spring u-bolt torque for my 05 4wd was 90 ft lbs. is this correct? because before i loosened the u-bolts to install my dr chubbys i checked torque and 90 ftlbs seemed way too much upon trying other nuts it seemed that 50 ftlbs is what they are at . is it possible my u-bolt nuts were backing out? i have 40000 miles on the clock and as a mechanic i have taken care of all maintainence except torqing of bolts that i have never touched before, and my snap-on torque wrench is okay because it just got tested a couple of months ago.

All bolts stretch when pulled to torque. That's why you re-torque the u-bolts after 500 miles. Probably nothing to get worked up about.
