I noticed the seals on both ends of my front diff.(where the shaft come out of the housing). I only had time to replace the one that was leaking the most, filled the diff back up with gear oil and before i ha time to replace the other one IT STOPPED LEAKING. Anyone ever seen this before??? I'm not complaining and yes its still full and this happened three months ago!!

Axle seals leaking isn't uncommon. Just miles....4 wheeling.....and basically normal wear and tear. Fairly easy to change them....took me about 1hr for both of em. Glad Toyota has all the parts on hand :)

I'm still looking for it! lol for some reason I can't find that and my receipt with the axle seals on it. But the o-rings that you replace aren't critical. I just figured i'd replace them since I was down there.

a couple months ago i had a slow leak coming from the yolk on the rear diff, what happened was that the seal was destroyed, but the main thing that was messed up was that the yolk itself had a scratch on it that went all the way around(obviously) so it wouldn't seal, damn mud, so what me and a buddy did was put some grease in there to pull out the dirt and crush the seal so it wouldnt leak, being that toyota didnt have the seal in stock at the time and tacos are really picky when it comes to seals so i had to just put a bandaid on and then get the seal which i have in hand and have yet to put on.

will going to a thicker oil be a temp fix or make it leak worse
if the viscosity is higher it will leak less( correct me if im wrong) i believe viscosity is the measure of how fast something flows in this case oil
and i think the heavier an oil the more viscous it is
