Why does long travel cost so much? I know R&D must be expensive, but come on, stock length upper control arms for $450 this is just crazy, they should be more like $250. If you want true long travel your talking $2500 for just the a arms (thats not right). I say we all get together and pilage some of these places, like Total chaos, and sway a way, everyone should be entitled to long travel, hell Toyota should make a truck from the factory with long travel.

Do you realize what you just posted? The guys that produce long travel aftermarket suspension systems, I.E. Total Chaos, Camburg, Esb, Velocity....are by no mean rookies. If you want to talk about the cost of an upper control arm you first need to know what goes into them. One uniball retails for $135.00 which would make two uniballs $270 which is already over your magical price of $250. Now throw in the cost of the chromoly, (which isn't cheap either) and the price of the bushings, slug adapters, and then paying someone to TIG them together.......you tell me id that is a deal or not. OH wait then you have to pay someone to engineer them to preform better than stock (change the roll center).

If you don't mind, im gonna band up with the smart guys and keep supporting the sport. Look im broke too, but that doesn't mean that they should lose money and cut costs.

Lets not even start the discussion about Toyota mass producing a long travel truck, because im sure that would cost more than $250 in legal fees when grandma rolled her taco going to the store.

I was just sitting around thinking how I will never get long travel, had to complain a little. I had no idea uniballs cost that much, I just wish these things could be mass produced so the normal guy could afford it. I was in no way dissing Total Chaos or camburg, if it wasnt for these guys I would have nothing to dream about.

the normal guy doesnt NEED it...so it doesnt need to be affordable for the normal guy...if you NEED it, like corey and a few others on here, then you'll find a way to afford it.

Big thing to think about is parts that dont break down, you get a nice kit, the truck will sh!t before the kit does. Long travel kits are not sold for moving volume.

Toyota's liability veto'd a TRD adjustable lift coilover for the trucks. FYI

Son, this is not the" Cry like a BITCH" forum. Work overtime, get a 2nd job, whore yourself out. Sell your firstborn son. Donahoe did the 1000, and won it on stock arms. So save some money, and leave Cory alone. He has bigger trucks to squash than yours. :xdevil:

Was it really necessary to bring your mother into the argument about cheaper long travel? Tell you what, just for YOU I am going to build a super cheap Long Travel setup. Cast rebar, all arc welded. 20" over with 46" total travel, i will use radio flyer spindles and wing nuts instead of uniballs. As for shocks you will have to get your own. you probobly could get a set at Autozone though, right next to the NOS steering wheel covers, lightup exhaust tips, the tornado superchargers, and the K&N filters. I will build it next week and post pics to get you approval. And if you are ok with the idea im gonna call it the "JonnyDeluxsickestlongtravelkitever!" just make sure you get the shocks that say "XTREME!!!!" on them, i heard those are hella sick bro...

Alright teenybopper, STFU! Learn the old truth, you get what you pay for. And if you want something that will work right, you have to pay for it.

Actually I was talking about rojodiablo's Mom, (she will do anything for long travel). Anyway you know how bad ass those extreme shocks are, the manager at my local wall mart runs them and won the tecate 500 on stock ford ranger arms. Look I know quality cost, and you get what you pay for, I just wish true long tavel was a little more affordable, is that fucked to wish this or something?
