Hey,

I'm thinking of putting Donahoe coilovers, Bilstein 5100's and Deaver leaf springs on my 2000 Taco. Is anyone running this setup or does anyone know anything about it?
Ahem.. you are talking about the most popular setup there is.. At the top of the suspension folder there is a sticky thread called "camburg vs donahoes...Mandatory reading before you post" please start by reading that. Currently the 5100s are sold out everywhere. secondly, SEARCH- it's there for a reason.

Whats the big deal about posting before you search? Seems like people get really annoyed about that here. Sometimes people feel like they need to get some first hand advice. Plus, its not like its a pain in the ass to help someone out via a reply to a post. I thought thats one of the main reasons this site existed . . . . get answers to your questions.

- It CAN be a big annoyance when the SAME questions are asked day after day. Failure to use the search feature shows laziness and disrespect to the members providing the info. Repetition of topics already covered discourages the veterans & more knowledgeable members from posting because they simply get tired of sounding like a broken record.

One of the main reasons this site was started was to provide information...
Also another big factor of migration to Vbulletin was the improved SEARCH feature. By searching for previous threads- you can easily add onto useful threads instead of wasting bandwidth by starting new redundant threads.

yah, it helps to search first just to avoid the double posts, but to answer your question, that setup is a good combo... jason demello recently upgraded my double cab to the donahoes upfront with the deaver 8 leafs and 5100s in the rear... took it out to play at Hodge Rd in Barstow... held up very well on some parts where i didnt pay attn and ended up launching... haha... here are some pics and a video clip...

All the information he is asking for is already here, so why should I, or anyone retype it every time it's asked? (at least once a week). This person was ignorant enough to ask if that combo had ever been used by anyone on there, which shows a complete lack of prior reading.

I know all I ask is that the person can do things themselves. If they can't figure out a few simple things (searching) themselves, how the crap are they going to handle a hic-up in a lift install, or a obstacle off road without someone else there holding their hand?

I hear what you are saying about the SEARCH method and it being an annoyance, but everyone who is using this site as an information tool is not a part of the "more knowledgeable members." Plus, no one is demanding or requiring specific members to answer all the questions posted on this site. You don;t have to reply if you dont want to. ANyway, its not a big deal. Just wondering why people made it a point to use the SEARCH method.

Okay, so lets say we all decide to be nice little boys and girls, and never mention the search function.... what happens? The first thing to happen is that the "more knowledgeable members" get fed up with seeing the same questions over and over again, and decide they're just not going to answer those questions anymore. What happens then? Well, as a result, the people who end up answering those questions are noobs themselves, and often end up giving erroneous or mininformed advice, which means the "more knowledgeable members" who want this forum to continue to be an invaluable source of information end up having to go back and correct Newb #2's information/advice to Newb #1, which ends up eating up twice as much bandwidth and making the "more knowledgeable member" less likely to return to the board as frequently, because of the headache. So the wonderful knowledge base contributed by our "more knowledgeable members" ends up slowly (or quickly) wasting away. I'd rather not see that happen. I'd rather newbs take some fucking initiative and put forth a little effort before posting "what's the best lift/shocks/tires/wheels/oil/wiper blades, etc." for the umpteenth hundred time.

It'd be one thing if the search function wasn't very good. But it works very well. Maybe if people would start helping themselves by searching for information, rather than just expecting others to hold their hand for 'em and do all the work...

it actually sits pretty level... when i had the Toytec 3" coil spacers with the daystar shackles, it sat stinkbug, but since its a prerunner, it didnt bug me sitting nose high... i believe jason cranked up the hoes about 2.75" although my friends seem to think its cranked up higher... the 5150s are my next upgrade...
