i was wondering if my 1998 toyota tacoma 2.7L has a low fuel light. i have almost ran out of gas and never seen the light. thanks

Third post down. He says he doesnt have one either, must not have been available on certain years. I by no mean am an expert on the subject though, so maybe someone else will chime in.

Same deal here... I believe there is no fuel light, but Once your needle gets to the bottom line (last line with the E on it...) It's about 3 gallons left in the tank? I am pretty sure that's right... Anyone wanna verify that?

I had a '99 Pre-Runner 2.7L at one time and the fuel light was non-funtional according to dealer. It never came on so I guess they were right...My '99 4Runner with the 5VZ-FE has a functioning light.

Mine's a V6 but my light comes on with 2.5 gallons remaining.

I have a '98 2.7L and I don't have a fuel low light either. However there is a spot cut out on the dash for it, I was wondering if maybe its wired there just isn't a bulb in that spot?? Toyota has been known to do that in the past. I'm curious just not patient enough to pull my dashboard out and see if its really true. Oh and by the way I went to the gas station the other day and the needle was just a hair past E well the truck took 15.024 gallons. The 2.7L only has a 15.1 gallon tank!! Just thought it was pretty funny.

If I remember correctly the difference is the sender. The wiring is there, but the bulb is missing and there are two different senders. Look on the old board and do a search, there was a post or two about it.
P.S. my 2.7 has a 18 gal tank. :welder:

my 99 doesnt have a light either. its doesnt really have anything though lol, manual door/locks, 2.7l, manual hubs, i beleive it even came stock with only a cassette player... it does have 4wd and AC though, but other than that, its the most basic you can get...

Huh....I always thought my 99 std cab 2.7l 5 spd had a 16 gal tank....

I always fill the filler neck right to the top, and wait a couple seconds for it to burp so I can squeeze more in...

I think the most I've gotten into it was just over 17 gals...

My fuel light doesnt work either...

I have ADD, power windows/locks, AC....dont know what it had for stock stereo...Also had an alarm system at some point...dont know if that was a dealer installed item or what...
